About Dr. Wong

Curriculum Vitae/Resume

I've been in practice for about 18-19 years.  Went to Haverford College and then to Jefferson Medical College, both in the Philadelphia area.

During med school, I actually didn't think about ophthalmology until my first dream of facial reconstruction was painfully disappointing.

My dad is a pioneering ophthalmologist....I'll never forget the day I told him I'd like to be an eye doctor.  He was proud.

My fascination with retinal diseases stems from the fact that we treat a variety of diseases and problems of the retina.  Each patient and surgery is different...and intense.

This is my first web site.  Please visit my blog for more up to date and ongoing articles.

Here is a link to my curriculum vitae...the fancy stuff!

•Haverford College, BA

•Jefferson Medical College

•Bryn Mawr Hospital (Intern)

•Georgetown University (Resident)

•Charles Retina Institute (Fellow)

I started my career in Baltimore, Maryland, just down the street from Johns Hopkins.  I thought I was crazy, but I quickly learned that patient care is best managed by those who are able to communicate with patients....that's the key.

Vitreo-retinal disease is NOT intuitive and patients need to be educated and given the opportunity to appreciate the gravity of the problem.

In this vane, I've created this website and my blog on retinal diseases to help with the education and appreciation of vitreoretinal disease.

I truly believe that the modern physician must be active on the Internet and use as many digital tools as possible to communicate with his patients.  Social media has opened my eyes to the power and significance of using these tools to fortify relationships with my existing patients and to attract new patients to my practice.

Many of my patients now arrive at my office after learning from me from the Internet and have arrived from many states of the U.S. and even a few from foreign countries!  It's a new age!

I am married, again, have a blended family of 5 kids and 2 dogs.  My wife is a really cool attorney working for DOD in Washington DC.  We've started a marketing company together to help more doctors do what we've done....learn the Internet!

Feel free to email me or ping me on LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter!

All the Best!

Randy

My Vision

"Understanding retinal disease is difficult, accepting visual loss is harder."

I hope my web sites and blog make your experience easier to understand.  More health providers should share their knowledge.
